Beautiful morning at the park enjoying the sun being back again after a wet week up here on the Sunshine Coast, the boys rode their scooters & I got stuck into reading "Big Magic" by Elizabeth Gilbert then it's home to prepare for the week. Sunday is our batch cook up day, we have 2 organic chooks in the oven, veggie soup in the slow cooker, batch of Nomato sauce simmering on the stove top for stews, casseroles /spag bol sauce (we use zoodles or on loaded sweet potatoes) and bunch of sides prepared to whip up quick meals after our later days at work & swimming lessons etc. This afternoon prep helps make our week a lot less crazy & means I only need to replenish small things each day or every second day instead of starting from scratch everyday. Things to do during the week will include making stock with the two chicken carcasses, cooking some lamb & our paleo sausages, make a leek & sweet potato soup. I also bought an extra red cabbage this week so will hopefully get around to making some sauerkraut otherwise it will get stir fried (it's nice with a bit of apple cider vinegar & a tart apple sliced through). This prep also means my veggies bought yesterday at the farmers markets don't end up in the compost & everything gets used so good for the pocket & our aim for a zero waste life. Master 8 was my little apprentice today, how else are they supposed to learn if they don't get involved! Who else batch cooks on the weekend? & What's on your meal plan this week? #kidsinthekitchen #feedingtwogrowingboys #fortheloveoffood #paleokids #organics
